It’s been rather quiet on the passive wealth blog for a while, you may have noticed.

Mainly because I have been focussing on other things.

That’s good in some ways because focus brings results, not so good for keeping this blog updated with my progress.

I have mainly been focussing on my motorbikin.com blog which as you will see gets updated 2-3 times per week and from this has developed my <a href="http://bikersfriend.co.uk"target="_blank">bikersfriend.co.uk site. Now if you are not in the least bit interested in all things motorcycle and motorcycling then these two sites will not be for you, but hopefully they will inspire you to get a site going around your interest or hobby, because you never know where it might lead.

So what about the money?

Well neither site is earning much at the moment, but they are giving me opportunites for experiences that weren’t previously open to me like trade tickets and press passes to events, plus a couple of weeks ago I met a chap who intends to break the motorcycle land speed record at Bonneville next year, who just happens to be a wealth coach, and it looks like that relationship is set to blossom. This is to name but a few opportunities that have opened up as a result.

So sometimes readers, just writing about your passion, can bring untold rewards not just financial ones and I am confident that the financial ones will follow.

On the <A HREF="http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?Clk=2783846"target="_blank">Money Gym Google Group – which is a kind of members only forum, where you receive messages members post into your email inbox – there has been a lot of talk recently about what it takes to be successful online.

There are a couple of members who have been working solidly at their businesses for around about two years. Both are reasonably successful, with one just about to launch a book and the other one having already launched and developed a membership site. However, despite their successes they have both been questioning how long it takes to get to that tipping point where the financial freedom they dream of is visible on the horizon.

This is where a reality check comes in.

Nicola Cairncross, one of the partners of the <A HREF="http://www.1shoppingcart.com/app/?Clk=2783846"target="_blank">Money Gym, will happily provide that reality check, as she knows how long it can take to build a business from literally nothing, 11 years ago she would have been homeless with her two kids if it hadn’t been for her sister taking them in.

She says there are likely to be three reasons why your website is not producing the results you want:
1) Not enough traffic
2) You are not converting enough traffic to subscribers
3) Your offer is not compelling enough to convert traffic to subscribers

You will only know this stuff by monitoring your webstats, boring but true I’m afraid.

Also another reality is that seven years is a more realistic timeframe for things to start happening so I don’t need to be bothered about the 1+ year my motorbikin.com website has been online, not that I am of course.

Forget the ‘make money whilst you sleep’ brigade, in my experience that stuff mostly leads to an empty wallet and a large credit card bill, but not much else!

Let me have your comments below.

This from an IPK forum that I am a member of puts a different perspective on my results (click here for previous post):

Your earnings were £151.54
Cost of PPC is £107.58

The domains which you substract in total from your first month profit should be divided over 12 months, in my opinion.

So that would mean instead of 34.86 you would calculate 3.87 as the cost of the domains for December which in turn makes it a Net Profit £40.09
That is a ROI of almost 40% which in my book is great.

She also goes on to talk about a sitebuilder that another member is developing. She says it would make it possible to make a ipk site in about an hour so if I can scale this up and not only have ppc but also organic search traffic imagine the income report next year.

Certainly with the year round strategy I would not be looking to use PPC to drive traffic but rather search engine traffic.

I have just been analysing my Info Product Killer stats up to the end of December.

You can find an outline of this program by clicking here to read my earlier post.

I built 7 sites plus the main Christmas site and the guys from IPK look them over so I know that they were set up correctly.

Amazon earnings were $219.33

Converted into sterling at todays exchange rate = £144.63

Plus Amazon UK earnings £6.91 = £151.54
Cost of PPC in £107.58
Domains cost 34.86

Net Profit £9.10

Analysis
Interestingly £85.76 ($130) of sales were of other products.
My Pay Per Click (PPC) costs were too high even within the tight KW list of less than 10 keywords some were just too generic so profit would have been higher without these keywords.

The product says that we can expect our sites to show up on page one of Google when we employ the strategies given, but as of today, none of my sites are on page one of Google.com but my Christmas site is showing on page two for a number of the keywords.

I am continuing with the PPC campaigns and so far in January I have earned £6.94 for an adwords spend of £3.68

Verdict
I am disappointed at the results given the figures being quoted on the sales page. Whilst I didn’t expect to make anything like that in the timeframe I did think they would be better. However, the year round profits campaign looks promising so I am going to forge ahead with that.

Click Here If you are interested in trying the program for yourself. I can then point you to an extremely helpful forum that will help you along the way.

As with all programs I encourage you to consider whether you can put in the necessary work to make it work for you and whether this it is something that interests you. I am a creative person so I enjoy putting together websites like this.

I will post further updates as time goes on.

Info Product Killer (IPK)
Is the other thing that I have been focussing on and that’s been taking up a lot of my time over the last month or so. Which is a program for creating Search Engine Optimised (SEO) product websites.

This is one of the most exciting products I have come across in a long while. That is because it shows a unique way of promoting physical products as opposed to digital products, hence the name.
It shows in detail, using videos and pdfs (portable document format files), how to get on the first page of Google with your websites and thus get free traffic.

The first part of the program has concentrated on building Christmas websites promoting Amazon products.

I managed to build eight websites and one main website around my full-time job from the middle of November to the beginning of December. Not bad going even if I say so myself.

Now it is suggested that you can initially drive traffic to the sites using Pay Per Click (PPC) – exact phrase match – so that is what I have done. This has been successful in driving traffic and in PPC terms the Click Through Rate (CTR) has been good as has the conversions from clicks to sales once at Amazon. However when embarking on a PPC campaign it is necessary to be aware of your figures e.g. how many clicks at the price you are paying equals the commission you will earn from the product, in other words your breakeven point.
I’ll admit I’ve made a few mistakes and at this point sales from Amazon are only just ahead of my adwords spending. I have made a few tweaks and hopefully I will be showing a more reasonable profit by the end of this month.

However I don’t feel down hearted by these results as it has been an enjoyable learning curve and I am very optimistic about increasing my profits with the year round strategy. This does not require PPC just well optimised websites that drive free traffic.

Support from the team behind IPK has been fantastic. They have answered questions virtually immediately and I am hoping I can get them to look at my Christmas sites and point me in the right direction with any mistakes I made to move forward – watch this space. I suspect the problem may have been that I may have chosen products without enough searches and also keywords that were too generic in my PPC campaigns or maybe it is just a matter of starting earlier for the Christmas sales.

If you want to check out the product then Click Here I highly recommend it
