Pizza, Networking and Internet Marketing
Posted by: passivegirl Post date: June 7th, 2008Welcome back!
Last week I got right out of my comfort zone and travelled down to London to meet up with some UK internet marketers at their regular London Lunch organised by Martin Avis. It was the first time I had met Martin and he is as lovely in person as he seems in his newsletter. By the way, you can sign up for his newsletter (which he sends out three times a week) at Kickstart Daily . He has an excellent course running at the moment as part of his newsletter called "The Foolproof, No-Nonsense, Kickstart Guide to Making Money Online" and you can get all the back issues as well once you sign up. I always read Martin’s newsletter from start to finish when it comes in, it really is that good!
Anyhow back to the London Lunch.
There was a really friendly bunch of people there, 25 to be exact, from
complete beginners up to a guy who charges one hell of a lot for people
to attend his conferences and there he was giving his knowledge away
for free over the pizza, as was everyone. By the time lunch was over
the laptops were out and demonstrations were going ahead on nearly
every table.
Martin Avis organised these lunches to get together people who normally
work in isolation at their computers and help them to network and get
them out for a day. As a result lots of knowledge was shared, joint
ventures were arranged and new friends were made all in the friendly
atmosphere of an Italian restaurant.
I certainly got some new perspectives on one of my projects that I will be putting to good use in the coming weeks.
The lesson learned here is that people are much likely to do business
with or take notice of people they’ve already met and know something
about, so networking is a really good idea no matter what type of
business you are in and when you’ve done it once it’s a lot easier to
do it again.
